We both attended Blue Valley West High School during Brandon's senior year with him focusing on basketball and Stephanie beginning her time there as a freshman, not knowing one another just yet. Many years later, Brandon was playing basketball overseas when he got injured bringing him home long enough for our paths to finally cross. The first day that Brandon was able to walk after surgery was our first date and the beginning of our love story.
Stephanie thought we were just going for a typical date night. We went to our favorite restaurant in Kansas City, Seasons 52. We did our usual routine there, with a few different appetizers, and then every single one of the desserts. Strawberry Cannoli and S'mores are the top 2 in case you're wondering. We walked back to the car through the Plaza, where we had parked right in front of my old apartment building. We had been on numerous dates and spent countless hours on the plaza and at that apartment, it felt like the perfect place to take the next step of our journey. So as we got into the park in front of the place we had made so many memories, I dropped to one knee and asked her to marry me. I can't remember what I had said exactly, but it must have been good because she is still wearing the ring!!
