Ashley likes trees. Big trees in California. Come see big trees and watch us get married.
San Jose Mineta International Airport is the closest to Los Gatos but it is a smaller airport. If you are up for a bit of a drive you can fly into San Francisco or Oakland but it will be about an hour+ drive to the hotel.
We have a room block at Toll House hotel in downtown Los Gatos. The room block is from Oct 9 to Oct 11. If you’d like to extend your stay beyond these dates you are welcome to, but it will be outside of the room block and you will need to contact the hotel directly. You are welcome to stay wherever you are most comfortable. All group transportation will leave from Toll House Hotel in Los Gatos so you will be responsible for getting yourself to Toll House Hotel if you’d like to take the group transport provided.
Possibly if you’d like to. The hotel is about 25 min away from the San Jose Airport so you will need to plan transportation for that. Toll House Hotel is in a walkable downtown area and all transportation to ceremony and additional activities will be provided. If you are comfortable using group transportation provided, remaining at the hotel during down time, or using ride share services you do not need to rent a car. If you want to explore the area or prefer to drive yourself I recommend renting a vehicle. We always prefer to rent a car to explore a bit, but we encourage everyone to do what makes them most comfortable.
The Welcome Dinner is within walking distance of the hotel so we encourage everyone to walk - it’s about two blocks. There will be group transportation provided for the Wedding and for the Redwood Railroad. Transportation will leave from the Toll House hotel.
We will be traveling via shuttle to Roaring Camp Railroads for a train ride through the redwoods. Tickets will be provided. Food will be available for purchase, but we recommend having breakfast before heading out. Here is a description of the train ride from the Roaring Camp website: “Travel over trestles, through towering redwood groves and up a winding narrow-gauge grade to the summit of Bear Mountain as conductors narrate the history of Roaring Camp, the railroad and the forest. In the 1880s, narrow-gauge steam locomotives were used to haul giant redwood logs out of the mountains. Roaring Camp’s steam engines date from 1890 and are among the oldest and most authentically preserved narrow-gauge steam engines providing regularly scheduled passenger service in America” Train ride will be approximately 75 minutes and we will do an optional ~1 mile trail walk we will go on after the ride. You are welcome to join us or purchase lunch/hangout at roaring camp or around the gift shop. We will meet in the parking lot at 2:15 pm to catch the shuttle bus back to Toll House. https://roaringcamp.com/excursions/redwood-forest-steam-train (Zola doesn’t allow hyperlinks here so copy and paste in your browser to read more about the train ride)
