We met in our senior year of high school in Fairbanks, Alaska. We met officially at Tyler Bray’s 18th birthday party, which I invited myself to after my coworker mentioned she was going. That night it was -35° and he started my car for me, after that I didn’t want to leave, but 2 hours later he walked me out. A year after we began to date his father retired from the military and his family decided to move out of Alaska, Tyler went down to the states first to get a job and settle in but ended up coming back, finding new work and a place to live within the week to stay in Alaska with me. Eventually we were able to afford our own apartment together, adopted our lovely cat Molly, and lived there happily up until our engagement last Christmas, when we visited his parents and decided we wanted more than Alaska had to offer us. We recently traveled during the pandemic after a month of unexpected setback, through Canada to Washington, and across the top of the United States to Minnesota. We’re waiting for our next steps, to get married, to celebrate it with our friends and family when it is safe to do so, to eventually purchase a home, and eventually expand our family beyond our cat.
