Tyson and Christine met at Mount Vernon High School, where neither spent much time together until their last two years there. Tyson was busy in the agriculture building, immersed in all things welding, while Christine enrolled in all the art and photography classes she could get. They both knew who each other was, but never spoke. Each year MVHS has a Spirit Week. In their junior year, one of the spirit days happened to be "Country Day" - a day that could be described as Tyson's usual wardrobe at the time. Christine hadn't worn a flannel a single day in her life, but she still loved the outdoors and her pickup truck. What could she wear on Country Day other than a flannel? She knew just who to borrow one from. After all, Tyson was well known as the school "country boy." Facebook messages were exchanged and the morning of Country Day they met up in the school parking lot. At the time, Christine was driving a forest green Dodge Dakota and Tyson drove a black Toyota Tacoma. "Nice truck!" Christine said as Tyson hopped down from his seat, sporting duck hunting chest waders, a camouflage t-shirt and a black cowboy hat. Classic. The flannel shirt was exchanged, and the rest is history. They began dating at the end of their junior year on June 21st, 2012. Oh, and that flannel shirt? Christine didn't give it back until a year later.
