How we met

We met at a small get together of coworkers in Lafayette, LA. Samantha was dressed in a BlackMilk dress and I was of course in a T-Shirt and hat. I remember Samantha arriving for 2 reasons. The first being how cute she looked and how much she stood out, the second reason being that she brought Mellow Mushroom pizza with her.

Our First Date

When: Valentine's Day Where: Lafayette, LA This was actually the 2nd Valentines day we had spent together. In 2016 I was getting ready to go offshore on the 15th and I asked Samantha what her plans were. I of course did not even realize it was Valentine's day until I asked her what her plans were. Luckily, she had no plans, so she said she would cook for me. I brought her a Milk and Cookies Hershey bar (I know so romantic). She cooked this pasta with green stuff all over it which she told me was pesto, I was skeptical at first, but it turned out to be delicious. One year later we went on our first official date in which I made reservations at a fancy Italian restaurant in Lafayette, LA well as Italian as you can get in Lafayette (Olive Garden doesn't count if you were wondering). We had hung out several times before and worked many times together, so we knew each other well. However, I was still very nervous as this was an actual date and didn't want to mess it up. The place was much more expensive than any place I had ever took anybody so I also didn't want to mess up the attire or etiquette, luckily Samantha was there to help me not embarrass myself or her. It turned out to be a lovely evening. We went on many more dates and following and the rest is history. I am not sure if it was my rugged good looks or my boyish charm that kept her around but I am glad it did (I actually thinks she just feels sorry for me).

The Proposal

The proposal is a very romantic story, we were setting at the house with a fire going listening to music. I tried to pick out romantic music which included George Straight. No way anybody could say no with him playing am I right? Of course I was very nervous because romance is not my strong point, at one point in our relationship I said "I don't hate holding your hand" and I thought I was being romantic. Anyways, back to the story, Samantha is sitting on the couch under a blanket so I sneakily hide the box under her blanket and get down on one knee. However, I was not as sneaky as I thought, she grabs the box and asks what is this as she pulls it off the floor out from under the blanket. Then I asked her to marry me, she said yes and as I am writing this she still hasn't changed her mind, so looks like I am in the clear. Now I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

For all the days along the way
