We first met at From the Hearth, a local cafe with 3 locations in Redding. I had spent roughly 2 and a half years working between 2 locations, and Hailey was at the 3rd location working for 2 years. Somehow our paths didn't cross during these 2 years until I was finally switched to work at her location. We became interested in getting to know each other right away and mostly spent time hanging out in groups with coworkers.

We began dating after Hailey finished the Fire Academy in May of 2020. We became best friends, supported each other through career changes, graduations, family losses and individual triumphs. We have experienced laughing for hours together and annoying the crap out of each other. Every day has been special, important, and brought us to where we are now.

When I was visiting my family in Louisiana for Christmas of 2023, Hailey was simply waiting on the Jeweler to call her to pick up the ring. She had been waiting about 7 weeks, and had to keep re-planning how to propose as she had planned to before Christmas. On my first day back from the trip, Hailey called to tell me she would be working another 24 hours and wouldn't be home. I got off work for lunch and came home to a clean house and Hailey with flowers in hand. I went back to work, and when I came back home she had cooked a steak dinner, candles, flower pedals everywhere, and our pictures through the years on the wall. She led me to look at them, and then when I turned back around she was on one knee. Obviously, I said "yes!"
