FAQs

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Wear something comfortable, make sure you have a swimsuit, but also: layers layers layers! The weather up on the mountain fluctuates, so you will want some nice and warm clothes for the night:)

Question

What should we bring?

Answer

If you plan on hanging out all day, bring the things you usually would for a beach or lake day: Swimsuit, Towels, Sunscreen, food/beverages, headlamps, clothes for cool whether at night and warm weather in the daytime, etc.

Question

Are there any rules?

Answer

-Clean up after yourselves, which includes properly disposing of trash. -No hijacking boats, golf carts, or trailers without prior authorization. -There will be games available (cornhole, spikeball, tetherball, volleyball, stump, etc.) so please be respectful of the equipment. -Canoes, paddle boats, kayaks are of limited availability and should not be dragged on the rocks. Be gentle :) -Do not swim by yourself if nobody is aware of your location. -Be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp any time you are walking off the beaten path cuz snakes. -Don't anticipate bringing your kids or pets to the lake without asking. We are hesitant to allow non-resident kids or pets.

Question

What is the vibe?

Answer

Campsite: There are two sides to the camp-DECH and CRC. Both of the properties are multifamily and multi-generationally owned. There are about 6 trailers of different ages on each property too. We have running water, electricity, and plumbing, but for this many people, we will need to be very mindful of using these things. For example, most of us "shower" in the lake. We are also going to have porta pots available in order to serve everyone's needs. There will be multiple places to have a fire and hang out. We will have a tent large enough for everyone if weather turns out to be poor. Surrounding areas: There is a Liberty gas station and convenience store that we all stop at for gas and to reload on beer, snacks, and some lake essentials if we forgot them. Everything else is about 30 minutes from the lake, so don't wait until you are at the property to figure out you're out of gas like someone who's name rhymes with Shmyler Shmamsel. Lake: The lake is a manmade lake. The water can sometimes be very comfortably warm, as it was created to cool down a coal power plant. It has fish, snakes, monsters, and algae.

Question

Do you have any travel tips?

Answer

Wifi and Cell Service: Access to Wifi and Cell service can be spotty at different points on the journey, specifically when you get about an hour to half an hour out. Please make sure someone knows your ETA, and if you can study your route before hand. Other Potential Perils: Deer... these guys are all over the place so be very careful and have your passenger be watching for them too, specifically at dusk/nighttime. Fog... The fog can get crazy, so again, make sure you let someone know your general ETA. The easiest way to come if you're coming from the north east is by hopping on 76 towards Pittsburgh. As long as everyone makes it to Corridor H (also known as US 48) you'll be fine, because that road goes right past mount storm and if you somehow miss that exit, you'll end up at a "T" in the road which branches off to Davis on your left and Thomas on your right.
