After a Spring Break of messing around and burning through my cash reserves, I got a job at a restaurant called Abuelo's with one of my best friends, Phil. On our first day, as we sat in the banquet room waiting for our trainer, I looked across the restaurant and saw the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. Trying to keep it casual, I asked the trainer about my new coworker. He replied “Yeah, that’s Stacy. She’s hot.” And she was. Throughout the summer, I tried to get closer to her. She was intelligent, beautiful, funny, and didn’t take nonsense from anyone. I initially thought she didn't reciprocate my feelings, but I stood firm. Eventually, after a summer of work and fun, I decided it was time to make my move. I stumbled my way through saying “I really like you” and leaned in to kiss her. It took her by surprise, but it turns out she had been getting impatient with me for taking so long. Five years later and I would not change a thing. Stacy has been the best thing to happen in my life. She has loved me during my lowest points and has continuously been my rock in all aspects of life. I couldn't have asked for a better wife and partner in crime, and I thank God every single day for bringing us together.
So of course we had talked about marriage before, and yes, there's a sliiiiiight possibility I had discreetly written my ring size in the 'Notes' section of his iPhone.. but I still never expected the proposal to happen how and when it did. To make a long story short, Tyler planned our usual anniversary dinner for the Friday before our usual anniversary vacation, so I didn't think anything was amiss. After dinner, he said he wanted to stop for ice cream at this new place nearby. I literally never say no to dessert, so you know I was down. As we start walking down a flight of stairs, I realized that this would be a really weird place for an ice cream shop. I glance ahead and see Tyler's brother, Chris, facing away from us on a bench with guitar in hand, and candles and petals nearby. I finally realize what's going on and burst into tears. Tyler walks me towards the spot and I can hear Chris playing our song "Edge of Desire" in the background. Tyler started praying for me and telling me how much I meant to him. It was so perfect. I couldn't believe what was happening. I'm so excited for our wedding, and even more excited for our marriage. It is so sweet to be loved by this man. I cannot wait to be his wife!
