A Condensed Version

He saw her walk in from the rain. She thought he was terse. Now they're getting married.

The Beginning

Sara grew up near Houston and went to college at Trinity University in San Antonio, double majoring in art and psychology. She swam for Trinity, and was very good (Tyler can attest to this when he saw her years later, without training, zoom far ahead of the pack in a sprint triathlon in the open water swim, only to be humbly equalized in the running and biking portions). At Trinity, she made friends with two of Tyler's friends from childhood and moved to Denver for a fresh start in 2014. A fresh start she very much received. Tyler was born and raised in Littleton, spending the majority of his time complaining about going to soccer practice and eventually rejoicing when his parents got the Food Network. From then on he was obsessed with food. He cooked in restaurants in high school and went to culinary school. He became a chef as he completed a degree in journalism at CU Boulder. Then, he began a sustained nomadic movement, going from Southeast Asia (backpacking) to New York (food PR intern), Denver (cooking and studying for the LSAT), back to Vietnam (teaching English), France (cooking), and finally to law school in Denver. Two weeks into law school, on a rainy night, their mutual friend Abbey, with whom Sara was staying, invited Tyler over to eat leftover burritos. Abbey knew Tyler's weak spot. Sara came in from outside after walking her dog Zoey, and they (being Sara and Tyler) caught eyes. Within a few weeks, Sara made a move (this is true) by asking Tyler if he'd like to platonically lay together and watch a non-narrative documentary. Tyler lied and said he liked movies because who would resist an offer like that.

The Regal Engagement and Related Matters

In December of 2016, Tyler took Sara to the roof of the Contemporary Art Museum and eloquently riffed an awe-inspiring soliloquy about the virtues and sacred commitments of love and marriage. That, or he stammered through something, got on one knee, and said "I want to marry you." Sara stared at him and respectfully responded, "you have to ask me." He politely asked her. She accepted. They went home and ate pasta with truffles. Their own non-narrative documentary continues. They have a house in the Highlands in Denver. Tyler writes legal stuff, cooks, gardens, and frets. Sara sews, paints, crafts, codes, and sometimes listens to Avril Lavigne. Zoey patiently waits for belly rubs. And it's time they seal this damn thing while you all watch. Sad PS--Zoey unexpectedly passed on recently so, to honor her memory, we will all bark at the mailman when he stops by the venue. RIP Zoey <3
