How We Met

OK Cupid!

We met online at the dating website, OK Cupid. Sandra's best friend recommended it to her and Tyler had an old profile on it that was still active. We hit it off right away and agreed for sure on one thing.... we were both casually dating and not looking for a serious relationship!

The Meeting

1 week later....

We talked online non-stop since Sandra was visiting Chicago the week we met. We both felt an instant connection. We both love Mexico, we both love kids and animals, can't get enough coffee, enjoy wine, like to travel, we both work in helping professions and it seemed anything we talked about, the other was on the same page. So a week later when Sandra returned to Oregon, Tyler came to Eugene for their first real meeting! We didn't stop laughing and talking and really didn't want to spend much time apart after that. It seemed one of us was always headed to see the other.

Distance is for the Birds

When we met, Tyler lived in Salem and Sandra lived in Eugene, about an hour apart. So we made the decision to take things to the next level and packed up Tyler's house and blended our households in Eugene. Of course, Isaac had to be involved in this decision and as time went by, he and Tyler developed their own relationship together. The three of us have grown into our own little family and from fun adventures to just dinner around the table, we really enjoy our time with each other.

The Proposal

Feb 9, 2018

Tyler got Sandra a romantic bed and breakfast getaway at the coast for Christmas. We both took off a little early from work and drove up to the coast near Pacific City. We checked in to a lovely room and got unpacked and Tyler said he had a surprise for Sandra. She was seated on the couch and he presented her with a card and got on one knee and gave her a beautiful wood box with our initials and the words "Marry Me" inside. How could anyone not say Yes?

Our Venue

Stewart Family Farm

Besides being a beautiful setting, there is a story that makes our venue special. The Stewart Family Farm is currently owned and operated by the Kropf family. The Kropfs have a family history of deafness and Deb, our florist, is a certified interpreter for ASL. After adopting a child from Liberia, W Africa, the Kropf Family visited the ACFI school for the deaf. Given their family history, they felt strongly about supporting this school, which was then renamed “The Oscar and Viola Stewart School for the Deaf”. The venue donates a portion of its profits to the school each year and we are honored to support such a worthy cause. We have been so fortunate to be healthy and whole and happy together and want that happiness and success for children everywhere.
