Capitols

This story, from the perspective of the bride, begins with a letter

One morning, I arrived to band, grabbed my tuba as always but this time I noticed a piece of paper folded in the shape of a football at the bottom of my tuba case. I picked it up and noticed it said “Capitols” on it. I thought it was odd, why would someone drop their history homework into my case? I opened it up and read it. It was a handwritten love letter. A letter describing how this person saw me, and how much they liked me. At first I thought it was a joke. It wasn’t explicitly addressed to me so I wasn’t sure. It’s also worth mentioning that there was a particular word they misspelled over and over again: sole (It was supposed to be soul) I asked all of my friends. Each one of them said they had no idea who it could be. I told them I wasn’t sure who it was for until Sam pointed out that there were only 5 capitol letters in the entire letter. It spelled out Tyler. By this point I’m reeling, who the hell wrote this letter? I eventually asked Raul. He was at the water fountain outside the band hall when I came up to him, holding the letter out like a warrant. I asked him if he knew who could’ve written it. It was as if the letter was the sun, he couldn’t look at it. Avoided looking at it entirely. Couldn’t even look at me directly when he shook his head no. Just kept his face buried in the water fountain. How Sus. A week went by, we started hanging out more and my birthday eventually came around. I had invited the usual suspects and Raul too of course. After my party, I opened my gifts and saw he had given me homemade rings. There were a total of three. Only one fit perfectly over my left ring finger. I texted him my thanks and he asked if I saw the bottom of the box. I didn’t so I went to check. The box said “To Tyler, From Sole aka Raul” We got together, officially on April 19th, 2016 (why a week later is a story for a different time). The rest is history!
