How It All Started

Sweet Connections, Cherished Moments

Back in 2022 the infamous app of Facebook came out with a dating network through the app known as Facebook dating. My curiosity got the best of me and I decided to see what it was all about. I did not expect anything to come from the silly app. I set up my profile and went through all the 'tutorials' of the app. I soon stumbled on Tyler's profile. I decided to swipe right for kicks and giggles- just to see what would happen. Well, he so happened to message me and we seemed to hit it off. We had our very first phone call a day later and I was really falling for this guy I had just met on the internet. The only downfall was that he was in Winston-Salem and I was in Garland ( 3 hours apart from each other ). A few weeks later Tyler and his family went on a trip to Myrtle Beach. I decided to take the jump and go meet him and his family in person for a day, especially since it was closer to my house. When the day finally came to go to Myrtle Beach I was nervous but excited! I got into my car and blasted my tunes to distract me from the butterflies I was feeling. When I met up with Tyler it took me awhile to warm up to him. We sat out on the beach for a few hours and I did not speak much to him. I hid my face in my phone or in the book I had brought to keep me company on the beach. That evening at dinner was when I came out of my shell. I thought to myself 'I really like this guy'. After dinner we said our goodbyes and I went back home. It was bittersweet for me because I never knew when I would or if I would ever see him again. Fast forward a few days later and we decided to meet up again for lunch. I was not nervous this time and talked his ears off. We decided to make things official despite the distance between us. Our work schedules were flexible at the time so we would make time for visits with each- whether that was me going to Winston or Tyler going to Garland. For the next year and a half we went on many adventures together exploring mountains, cities, towns, and surrounding areas. We even both finished college and got full-time jobs which made our schedules not as flexible. It was hard to not see each other as often. When it came to those difficult times we always depended on God's timing. We knew that one day God would provide a way to close the distance. In February 2024 I got a job offer for an office in Winston- Salem. I went in for an interview and got the job! I packed my bags and two weeks later moved to the town of East Bend. Fast forward to March, Tyler and I decided to ride along the BlueRidge Parkway for the day. The weather was not permitting but that did not stop us. Tyler pulled over at an outlook and popped the big question! I immediately said YES. Looking back it is funny how we just got started on a little app. In all seriousness I give God all the glory and praise for his wonderous works and mighty plan. Without him Tyler and I would not have made it to where we are now. Let's get married!
