The first time we met was actually over FaceTime in 2016 at one of our mutual friends Ring Dunks at Texas A&M University, when she told me, Tyler and I would be great together. With Tyler being in Virginia at the time and Me in Texas, this made for quite the challenge to hang out and get to know each other. We kept in touch on and off over the years and finally fast forward to June of 2018, when I had a week off nursing school I took a leap of faith and flew out to see this Virginia boy I was already falling for. After that first weekend together the rest was history, and our long distance journey began.
The first time Tyler flew down to Houston to visit me, I knew he was a big baseball guy, so I got us tickets to an Astros game and got to show him around my favorite city. Easter weekend this past year (April 2, 2021) he flew in to spend the holiday with my family and little did I know the surprise that was in store for me! Tyler had my dad send a family group text saying a Minute Maid (Astros baseball park) representative was wanting to meet to discuss sponsoring through work and that we would be going on a tour of the stadium. I didn't think anything of it and was excited to see the stadium with my family and Tyler. The Minute Maid tour guides were in on the surprise the whole time as well and I was absolutely clueless the whole tour. When we reached the field, Tyler took my hand and guided me behind home plate where he brought our first date back full circle. I got to say yes to the man of my dreams in a place that was so special to the start of our relationship! After the proposal Tyler also had a surprise engagement party waiting for me at my best friend's house, and it truly was the best day of my life surrounded by all of my friends and family!
