Our Story

Maggie and Tyler met at a mutual friends party their junior year of college at Notre Dame. Both of them being more reserved, they didn’t say much to each other at the time. Tyler remembers that day calling a good friend of his and telling him something along the lines of, “Dude, the prettiest girl in school is here.” Maggie recalls that day clearly, noting that Tyler showed up to the party with Chipotle, envious it wasn’t for her. Fast forward to the beginning of senior year, Maggie and Tyler still hadn’t spoken much, only interacting in large groups. Eventually, Tyler asked Maggie to a formal. Thankfully, she said yes. After finally saying more than two words to one another, Tyler and Maggie started to realize they really enjoyed spending time together. Maggie was smart, funny, and the prettiest girl in school. Tyler was tall and provided Chipotle. It was a match made in heaven. In all seriousness, Maggie and Tyler began to realize they had a lot in common — often thinking alike, laughing together at silly jokes, and exploring all the fun dates South Bend had to offer. They went axe throwing (the perfect first date spot), bowling, mini golfing, go-kart racing, pottery painting, and to the zoo. After many fun dates, Tyler asked Maggie to be his girlfriend, and she said yes. One of Tyler’s first big milestones in their relationship was meeting Maggie’s parents, who were in town to see her final dance recital. Maggie told Tyler he could not bring her flowers, because that would be embarrassing. Instead, he got her a potted plant. Tyler met Stefanie and Peter for the first time outside the venue, holding a potted plant, explaining that he wasn’t allowed to bring flowers. This helped break the ice and is a memory Stefanie still laughs about to this day. Maggie’s first time meeting Tyler’s family was also a significant milestone. His parents had reserved a private room at a restaurant in Chicago to house the 10 family members Maggie was to meet (still missing 2). While this felt formal at first and made Maggie somewhat nervous, she handled it with grace and was quickly welcomed by all 10 of the family. After graduating from Notre Dame, Maggie and Tyler both moved to Chicago, living under a mile apart. They continued to grow together, going on fun dates like to the Shedd Aquarium, the zoo, and many bike rides by the lake. A year later, Tyler and Maggie moved in together — learning to cook together and figuring out decorating preferences. A framed Larry Bird photo did not make the cut, much to Tyler’s dismay. Several months later, the two thought their lives were too easy, and decided a spunky collie puppy would spice things up. Reya, the aforementioned spunky pup, was undoubtedly a handful but brought so much joy and laughter to their lives and made them a little family. Not long after, Tyler, Maggie, and most importantly Reya, all decided to move across the country to Denver. They quickly fell in love with Colorado — hiking, skiing, exploring new neighborhoods, and getting a lot more sun. In May of 2025, Maggie and Tyler took a trip to Ireland. Tyler planned to propose on the trip, carrying the ring with him everywhere in hopes to find the ideal, quiet and beautiful spot. After several days of nervously hiding the large ring box from Maggie, Tyler found a picturesque lake, named Lough Inagh, and plugged it into the GPS. Even though Maggie was adamantly hungry, she did not admonish Tyler that they had 100% passed this exact lake 4 hours earlier. Tyler proposed, Maggie said yes, and a few moments later they got to witness a flock of sheep being herded down the road — a wonderful Irish ending to a hunger-forgotten moment. Only forgotten for a moment, Tyler and Maggie rushed back to town to grab a celebratory dinner as fiancés. From a few quiet conversations at Notre Dame to building a life together in Denver, Tyler and Maggie are so excited for this next chapter and cannot wait to celebrate with all of you.
