It was Washington, DC. Keshani had been dating in the city for a while and, to put it gently, the apps had been testing her patience. The weekend before meeting Tyler, she had been stood up on a date, which felt like the universe confirming what she already suspected: it was time to take a break from dating. There was just one problem. She had one last date already scheduled. The plan was simple. Show up, rip the bandaid off, confirm that dating in DC was chaotic, and then retire from the apps for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, Tyler had a completely different reason for being on the apps. He had lost a bet with his mom. So he downloaded a dating app, went on a few dates, and quickly decided the experiment had run its course. The date with Keshani was going to be his last one before deleting the app entirely. So naturally, the two people who had both decided they were done with dating met for Dinner in DC. Keshani arrived in a “sexy devil” Halloween costume, because it was Halloween weekend. Tyler quickly realized this was either going to be the most interesting date he had ever been on… or the shortest. So they met for dinner. Dinner turned into drinks at Mosaic. Drinks turned into a long walk into the early hours of the morning. And just like that, one date quietly turned into two and a half dates in a single night. At some point, they both realized that the plan to “take a break from dating” might not be happening. Since that night, they have spent nearly every weekend together, building a life filled with travel, laughter, and the realization that sometimes the best things happen when you least expect them.
