Kelsey and Tyler met right before Christmas break in 2014. They bumped into each other at a party in Tyler's fraternity house. It was shortly after that, Tyler reached out by sending a snapchat in his new Columbia jacket that read, "Frat guy in little coat." For those of you who might not know Tyler very well yet, he is a big jokester, though his humor can be quite obscure. Obscure or not, that day was the first time Tyler made Kelsey laugh and they haven't stopped laughing together since.

Kelsey and Tyler had been friends for a while now, but it wasn't until January 1st, 2016 when Tyler first realized how much Kelsey meant to him. It was New Year's Day (also Tyler's Birthday), and Kelsey and Tyler were the only members of their friend group remaining in the quiet town of Ames. Determined to not spend New Year's Day alone, Kelsey and Tyler spent the day running around Ames together. "I realized that day, that you were the only person I really wanted to spend my birthday with." - Tyler. It wasn't until spring break in March, when with the help of a few drinks Tyler finally asked Kelsey to be his girlfriend.

Kelsey and Tyler moved to Sioux Falls after graduating from Iowa State. They started their careers, worked towards their CFA/CPA designations, and got acclimated to the new city. It wasn't until one Saturday night in January 2018 that Tyler decided he could not wait any longer to do what he had been preparing for. After an average Saturday afternoon of running errands together and studying, Tyler asked Kelsey if she wanted to go out for a dinner date. After a short debate on location, the two decided that a nice dinner at home was the better choice. They laughed, talked about everything under the sun, sipped wine, and said cheers a few times. Tyler, having so much fun at home with Kelsey, knew it was time. Shaking slightly from the nerves he was fighting, Tyler dropped to one knee, pulled out a ring, and spoke from his heart. "I don't know how we got here, but I love everything about our life together." - Tyler.
