Our Story

First we were strangers, then we were friends, now you are mine.

Tyler and Jayln first met in 2011 in Columbus Junction, and have been friends since. From parties in sheds and garages, to singing karaoke together at the bars, their friendship flourished over the years. In 2014, they decided to take the next step in their relationship. In their first year as a couple, Jayln was teaching at her first job across the state, 6 hours away. Tyler was working nights. One thing that Jayln will never forget is Tyler getting off of work in the middle of the night and driving 6 hours to see her. He surprised her with an early morning breakfast in her office at school, though she was way too excited by his surprise visit to eat. They made it through the obstacles brought by long-distance and opposite schedules, and Jayln finally made it back to southeastern Iowa to pursue her dream job at Muscatine Community College. A year later, they ended up buying their first home together in Fredonia. A home that they now share with their two dogs and two cats. They enjoy traveling and taking mini-vacations together when they can, visiting places from Nashville, TN to Saratoga, WY. They look forward to spending the rest of their lives together, and are very thankful for the friends and family who have been there along the way.

The Engagement

May 18, 2018

After another "Havill Travel" trip for work, Tyler picked up Jayln from the airport and knocked her off her feet (again) with a grand surprise. After hauling all of the luggage into the house, Jayln was admiring the beautiful flowers and reading the note Tyler left on the table. Behind her, Tyler pulled the ring out of the drawer and got down on one knee. After reading "I think I've kept you distracted long enough" at the bottom of the note, she turned around and he proposed right there in the kitchen of their home. Tyler says that he knew if he waited any longer, Jayln's "senses" would end up finding the ring one way or another because she's nosy like that..but let's say he was just really eager to marry her.
