In the fall of 2013, Haylee and Tyler showed up to Vanguard University as complete strangers. Fortunately, Tyler's cousin, Alayna, was a "freshman welcome week" leader. Can you guess who was in her group? Only a few days after settling into new dorms and making new friends, Alayna found Tyler in the Cafeteria, sat down for a bite to eat, and told him, "I've found your wife." Needless to say, Alayna had the right idea...Tyler turned around, and for the very first time laid his eyes on his now beautiful bride to be, Haylee Lynn Pierce. It was a few years before the story developed any further. They both had very different groups of friends, different majors, different schedules, you name it... But the separation could only last so long. They were both accepted as interns on the Spiritual Formation team at Vanguard. This is where they met. This is where they became friends. The next season of their love story is a twist of left and right turns, ups and downs...not to mention Haylee told Tyler they wouldn't date, 3 times. Yes, 3 times. Little did they know, months later they would be traveling the west coast together on a music tour with some close friends from school. Maybe it was a few too many long trips in the van. Maybe it was those beautiful Pacific Northwest sunsets. Maybe Debs just couldn't keep a secret. Whatever the case, THEY. FELL. IN. LOVE. The next 2 years were filled making new memories together, traveling to foreign countries, and ultimately creating a union that would last a life time. Tyler proposed to Haylee on July 17th, 2018 in the Sierra mountains on a slack line. This was how they spent their first date a few years prior. She was completely surprised! Or so the endless screams indicated. On February 10, 2019 they will vow a sacred promise before God, and a lifetime commitment to one another as they step into marriage.
