Yes. Great Exuma is the largest of the chain of islands. The main roads are good to travel on throughout the island. You can travel by rental car, taxi, bus, boat or rental scooter.

You can use US dollars in the Bahamas. Bahamian dollars are also used. The exchange rate is 1:1. Taking out cash before your visit is recommended. Having cash makes it easier at most places. There are ATM's on the island.
Yes. The largest being Exuma Market in George Town. There are smaller markets around the island as well.
Renting a car is not necessary on the island but recommended if you are planning to do your own excursions, travel to different restaurants, and leave your hotel/resort fairly often. In 2014, we stayed at Grand Isle Resort and Spa and did not rent a car because we did not leave the resort very often. If you do any excursions, the company should provide transportation to and from your hotel/villa. Please note, taxis on the island need notice in advance on when you need a ride.
