In 2020, the world changed in ways none of us could have predicted.
When COVID-19 hit, everything shut down, and staying connected felt almost impossible.
Meeting new people was even harder.
But despite the odds—pandemic, dating apps, work, travel restrictions—we managed to find each other on Hinge. Swiping right may not be the most romantic way to meet someone, but it was the start of our story.
Ty asked Cynthia to meet for a coffee on May 12th, 2020. What was supposed to be a quick chat turned into hours of wandering the lakeshore in Burlington, lost in conversation. It was the windiest day ever, but neither of us seemed to notice. We were both so fascinated by each other’s stories—we had lived such different lives, but there was so much to talk about.
In those uncertain months, we became each other’s escape. Five years later, we look back and are so thankful we took a leap during a time when the world was pulling everyone apart.
That one chance meeting changed everything.
