December is the off season for the island so beach houses will be a lot cheaper and have more availability. They're a great alternative if you're coming in from out of town and would rather not stay in a hotel, especially as a group. The reception is on Ocean Isle so we'd recommend staying there; however, Sunset Beach is only a few minutes away!
