Where It Began

3.3.17

The two of us first met at our friend Luke's Halloween party in 2015. Tyler dressed as a cop and I dressed as Alvin, of Alvin and the chipmunks. Tyler claims he immediately wanted to "arrest me" and ask me to be his girlfriend but he thought that was a little forward so he settled for conversation. He asked if we could take a picture together for snapchat and then said he needed my number so he could add me on snapchat. This was all a ploy to get my number, but obviously it worked! We didn't talk much after that until around March of 2016 when I invited him to come with my friends and I to the beach for spring break. It ended up raining 6 out of the 7 days that we were there so we got to know each other pretty well during that trip. We had many mutual friends so we continued to hang out throughout the summer of 2016 and became really good friends. Tyler claims he always knew he wanted more, but I think we both knew it in the fall of 2016 when I moved to Tuscaloosa for college and we realized how much we missed each other! So Tyler began visiting every weekend pretty much for football games, bar hopping, and just to see me, of course. He finally asked me to be his girlfriend on March 3rd, 2017 and we've been having the most fun together ever since!

The Proposal

3.5.21

It was just a couple of days after our 4 year anniversary when Tyler and I were home on a Friday night, having our favorite kind of date night which is dinner and movies at home. I made my homemade chicken parmesan (Tyler's favorite) and we were just talking, laughing, and having a great time together. Tyler asked if we could do a TikTok. Of course, I immediately assumed it was going to be some kind of prank TikTok because we have never made TikToks before and we never ask each other to do one unless its a prank. So I said no but he swore it wasn't a prank and kept begging and begging to do this TikTok. Finally, I apprehensively agreed. He said that I needed to stand with my back to him which only made me MORE suspicious he was going to do something dumb but I did. I kept asking "What are you doing?!" and then he said "Will you marry me?" I turned around before I even fully processed what he said and I was in complete shock to see him on one knee holding a ring in front of him! I gasped so loud and said "WHAT?! You're lying!!" probably 15 times. I still thought it was some kind of prank for a second and could not believe it! I have truly never been so shocked but more filled with pure joy. When I finally calmed down enough to speak again my first question was "Wait, did you ask anybody if you could do this?" I never would have thought my family could have actually kept a secret this big from me, but they did! Tyler said he hadn't even planned to do it that night but it just felt like the perfect moment and I couldn't agree more! I'm so thankful for our relationship and for all of the support we have had from all of you. And yes ladies, I will share the chicken parm recipe.
