Our Love Story

Tyrhee moved back home from West Virginia in June 2015 and when not working, was hardly in DC until Warren gave him reason to stay.  Warren moved to Washington DC the Saturday before Thanksgiving in 2015, ready to start his new job at his law firm that Monday. On Sunday before Thanksgiving, his friend Jordan Clark invited him to a movie to hang out before the workweek began. Little did Warren know, Jordan had also invited Tyrhee to the same movie (and no, it wasn't a setup). As Warren got off the red line train at Gallery Place Chinatown, he spotted a Fuddruckers burger spot with glass windows. There, standing in the window, gobbling down a burger and fries, was Tyrhee. Within 24 hours of moving to DC, the story of these two began.   If you know Tyrhee, you know he can be antisocial AF if he doesn't know you, so conversation was hard to come by that first night. Fast forward about a month later, Warren and Jordan went out to a club. While turning up, Tyrhee texted Jordan to see what he was doing. When Jordan replied that he was with Warren, Tyrhee sent back a text with smiley eyes. After he and his friend Tameka Gongs came to the same club, Warren went in for the kill. Numbers were exchanged, and the rest is history.   Warren, the nerdy, risk-averse lawyer, spends his days buried in legal contracts and his nights campaigning for local politics—because who doesn't find that thrilling? Meanwhile, Tyrhee, the adventurous spirit, decided to ditch the 9-to-5 grind (with Warren's cautious blessing) to launch his own non-profit, Soul Trak Outdoors. Together, they've tackled the Inca Trail in Peru (a 4-day hike that Warren survived with sheer determination), and gave the 18,000 feet up Pico de Orizaba in Mexico a good college try (fail). They've sailed the deep blue Indian Ocean from Tanzania to Seychelles, and Warren even endured watching Tyrhee dangle over Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe—one of those extreme exhibitions that’ll literally make your heart skip a beat. Their relationship is built on a foundation of adventure and a shared commitment to write their own story— proving that when it comes to love, the journey is as captive as the destination.   After 9 years of mountain climbing and valley wading—in real life and in love—the couple got engaged via Warren's stand-up comedy show performance that ended on a knee with a ring.
