Like every millennial looking for love, Ruth and Tyler were both trying their hand at online dating. Ruth's sister had recently moved to Battle Ground, Washington, about 20 miles away from Tyler which put them in the same internet dating pool. Ruth was the first to notice Tyler, with the most important things assured (common values, athletic, facial hair) she swiped right and hoped for the best. Three months later (Tyler swears that's the first time he saw Ruth), he swiped right in return and they were matched. Ruth was dancing care-free in Tennessee at a Zach Bryan concert at the time and took a bit to message Tyler. October 8th, the first message was sent and by October 21st they had started talking most days and were ready to see if this thing could be something more. Ruth had begun working for the local airport and offered to fly up for the day if Tyler would plan something fun. He readily took her up on the idea! Two weeks later, Ruth boarded the first flight at 5am, and yes the butterflies had begun. After a delay and two flights, Ruth landed at PDX. Walking out into the unknown, this could be a bust, but after all, what is life about if not for adventure. Across the terminal she saw Tyler, in standard issue PNW flannel and puffer, with a dozen roses. The smiles grew from ear to ear on each of their faces. "Wow," Ruth thought, "he's more handsome than his pictures." And they took off to go chase waterfalls.
