Oh where to begin! Ty and I first met back in January 2014 when he came to a young adults small group bible study hosted at my parents house. Right from the get go, we found out we both had a lot in common. I had just joined the group only the week before, so both of us were definitely newbies! It was one of Ty’s dreams to start a local skateboard ministry and although skating was no longer an option for me, it was still a huge passion of mine as well! I have always loved traveling and have had the most amazing opportunities growing up to truly be a world explorer. Although he had not traveled much, Ty was passionate about travel and had high hopes of joining my ranks as a world traveler! And I guess we also both kinda dig this guy named Jesus too… Needless to say, we became two peas in a pod pretty quickly. After two and half years of being “best friends,” the tension of being something more finally became clear. So, at last, on October 5, 2016 after several cute memes texted between us, Ty asked me to go steady with him! As our relationship grew stronger and our love deepened for both each other and Christ, we truly became inseparable. From traveling out west and meeting all of my family to taking his first out of country trip to Uganda, we soon realized the steadfastness and rarity of our kind of love for one another. So on December 31, 2018 on a majestic hike through Dupont State Forest, in a small alcove at the foot of my favorite waterfall, “Hooker Falls” (ironic I know…) he finally got up the nerve to pop the question (although I technically did it first…)! So for the past almost two years, Ty and I have grown even closer as we plan for this next chapter of our adventurous love story.
