Just a Couple of Forevers.

We first crossed paths on social media when Darnell slid into my DMs with, "So I was wondering if we could get to know each other." I noticed he had "OVO" in his bio, which, if you’re a Drake fan like me, you know is a pretty big giveaway. We instantly clicked over our shared love for Drake’s music, sports, and, of course, laughter. Our first date was on August 24th, 2019, just a week later. From then on, we started making frequent trips between Delaware and South Jersey to spend weekends together since Darnell was living in Delaware for work at the time. Some nights, he’d finish work at midnight, drive an hour to my college apartment, then turn around and head back for work at 8AM. Since the moment we met, we’ve been inseparable.

On 12/02/2022, Tyra graduated from a Law Enforcement Academy, and to celebrate her incredible achievement, I planned a surprise party. What she didn’t know was that the surprise would also include a marriage proposal. Since both of us are family-oriented, it only felt right to share the special moment with our loved ones. Tyra was completely caught off guard when I got down on one knee, and I couldn’t have been happier when she said “yes.”

We have always talked about having a "big family" and we have always known we’d make beautiful and successful children together. On 05/22/2024, God blessed us with our first child, Keilani. If you were at the baby shower, you probably saw the look of disbelief on our faces when we found out we were having a girl. But it didn’t take long for us to completely fall in love with our baby girl. Darnell painted her room the following week of our baby shower. We’re so proud to be girl parents and do not take our responsibility lightly. Keilani couldn’t have been a more perfect first child as we figure out this whole parenting thing. Our love keeps growing as we watch each other step into this new chapter of our lives called parenthood.
