Tyler and I attended the same schools beginning at Alva elementary all the way through college! It started with me telling a friend I thought he was cute on the bus ramp, (& being told I wasn't allowed to crush on him, because my girlfriend already was), to getting invites to his college parties in the apartment directly above mine. He had moved away to join the Navy and was living in Charleston, SC when he and friends came into the restaurant I worked at, Miller's Ale House, for a night out while he was visiting home. I saw him, he made me laugh by roasting a recent exboyfriend, only to later on send me a message on Facebook to apologize for being a bit too rowdy. Eventually, the conversations led to an invite to Charleston for a long distance date. He wined and dined me in one of the most romantic cities in the U.S. & the rest is a funny history full of laughs, endless inside jokes, and lots of love!
He had just gotten home from his final deployment aboard the USS Columbus submarine, and the first order of business was to have a nice getaway to San Francisco, CA. With us both being lovers of the wine, we decided to take a trip to Sonoma County to spend the day visiting wineries, touring the vineyards, and sipping on some of the finest wines. Rest assured, he had made plenty of comical remarks to the staff who greeted us at each of the wineries that we were NOT celebrating anything special! It was at our final stop, Jacuzzi Winery, while exploring the vineyard that Tyler said "this would be a good place to propose, huh"? Having become acquainted to his ways, I routinely took a deep breath and told him "yeah, yeah".. only to turn around to see him down on one knee with a ring in his hand! He spoke about our life together thus far, and said that he no longer wanted to be my boyfriend, but my husband. We put the ring on backwards, kissed, and I said yes!
