Cole saw Hairspray at Town Hall Arts Center in 2017 where Faith played Tracy Turnblad. Shortly after, he was browsing Tinder and found her, thinking "Oh my God it's Tracy!". He swiped right using his only superlike of the day. Faith, rarely ever browsing Tinder, saw Cole at the top of her stack of matches and they connected once she saw his headshot and recognized him. They became friends and talked for a year and a half before Cole finally asked her out. He "had an extra ticket to a show", but had bought it with the intention of asking her to go with him. One week later she asked him out for St. Patrick's Day drinks and they made it official.

On opening weekend of their second show together, Spamalot, Cole told Faith he wanted to take her to their favorite Italian restaurant for dinner to celebrate. That morning, in the comfort of their apartment with their pup Odie present, Cole pulled out the ring and proposed to her. The celebrated their engagement that night at Odyssey, a place they have shared many anniversaries and birthdays with each other over the years.
