It was May 2012. Skitz had just graduated from MSU and moved back home to Grand Blanc. Tu, being older and wiser (aka a cougar), was approaching her one-year anniversary at her first career job in Human Resources. Tu was asked by her manager to "reach out to this young man and schedule an interview" for a Project Manager position. After avoiding Tu's phone calls for a week, Skitz finally called her back. The following week, Skitz strolled into the office for his interview and it was not love at first site. Skitz's "confidence" made his interview a success and was offered the job, against Tu's recommendation. Fast forward to that winter. Skitz's manager, Warren (the same one that hired him and also their wedding officiant), volunteered to help Tu with planning the annual Company holiday party. Warren suddenly became "too busy" and volun-told Skitz he was helping instead. Tu and Skitz spent the next few weeks together, working on picture slide shows. Skitz's charming personality and handsome good looks slowly started to grow on her.

After 6 years of dating, a random Wednesday became the most important day yet. While their newly purchased home was undergoing renovations with paint and flooring, Skitz created the perfect space for a proposal in the middle of their dining room. Green and white Christmas lights illuminated a path from the interior garage door through the kitchen and to the dining room, where Skitz was standing on the MSU flag that Tu gifted him when they first started dating. The words, "Will you..." were written on the subfloor of the kitchen. The song "Slow Dance" was softly playing in the background. On a small chalkboard that he was holding, Skitz wrote, "...slow dance with me?" and drew a diamond ring. Sprinkled around the MSU flag was a Caramello candy bar (Tu's favorite), candles and a few of the love notes Skitz had written Tu throughout the years. After a long day and still wearing the ugly holiday sweater that she wore to work, Tu walked in and was immediately confused (and getting hangry). Why are the lights off? Why are Christmas lights on the floor? Why are they green and white? Who wrote on the floor?! Will you... what?! Where's dinner? With so many thoughts running through her head, it did not occur to Tu that Skitz was proposing. Skitz grabbed Tu's hand as she walked up to him and they started slow dancing. He said something about wanting to do this for a long time, make sure it was the right time and place, etc. (memory is fuzzy but probably mentioned how Tu's the most beautiful girl with the best personality, biggest heart and smart too). Before she realized what was happening, Skitz dropped down on one knee, said Tu's full Vietnamese name (Anh Tuyet Thi Cao) and asked her to marry him. Shocked, she blurted out, "Are you sure?!" Skitz reassured Tu that this is the only thing he's ever wanted, so of course she said, "Okay..." then finally, "Yes!"

May 2012 We met. November/December 2012 We became friends. December 8, 2013 We're "officially" girlfriend/boyfriend. December 11, 2019 We're engaged! November 6, 2020 Married happily ever after!
