It's Wedding Time!

We met in 2016 at Federal Heights Elementary School. Joe was a new teacher in 4th grade and Alexis had been there a few years teaching 2nd grade. After spending a few months chatting in the copy room during late nights working, we realized we enjoyed each other's company! Our first date was November 2016 at a concert (of course!). We made it official on New Year's Day 2017 (easy anniversary to remember LOL) and the rest is history!

We were at Alexis's Grandparents' house for dinner and gifts. Since no one traveled for the holidays, we had a Zoom call set up with Alexis's family at 6:00pm. Well, opening presents ran longer than expected and before we knew it, it was 5:55pm and Alexis needed to get the Zoom call started! While she was busy on her Grandma's iPad in the kitchen, her Grandpa pulled out "one last gift for Joe." Alexis looked up and saw Joe unwrapping a small white box and suddenly realized what was happening. There was shouting, laughing, getting down on one knee, crying, phone calls in the background (Alexis's Dad wondering why the Zoom call hadn't started), and lots and lots of happiness and cheer! Afterwards, we jumped on the Zoom call and got to share the good news and celebrate with Alexis's family. Later that night, we headed to Joe's sister's house for more celebrations. It was great to be able to "see" and celebrate with both of our families that evening. Definitely a night to remember, and another easy anniversary to remember (are you noticing a theme here?)!

We have both since gone our separate ways from Federal Heights Elementary. It will always hold a special place in our hearts, as we both made life long friendships from working there. However, we are still teaching and staying very busy! Alexis is now a Social Emotional Learning Specialist and Joe is still rocking 4th grade. We live together in Denver, CO in our cozy little 2 bedroom - and more importantly 2 bathroom! - apartment that many a family member and friend have stayed at! Outside of teaching, Joe has started Graduate School to get his Master's in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies/Principal Licensure, and Alexis is a Headquarters Company Commander in the Army Reserves. When we are not busy with that, we are usually having a game night, going to a concert, watching/attending Denver Nuggets and Broncos games, or enjoying a good TV show/movie!
