How We Met

December 2013

I met Nikki almost 5 years ago and something inside me knew right away that she was meant to be in my life. I didn't know in what way or just how much she was going to be but I've never had a doubt that she was meant for me. That being said, the first time I met Nik I'm not so sure she felt the same way:/ I met Nikki at CrossFit Cedar Park where she was coaching at the time. While I wish I could tell you I walked in and she was impressed with my athletic prowess and strong jaw line...I can't haha. Instead she kicked me out about as fast as I walked in. Apparently she "was in hurry" (likely excuse to bail her out now that I got her) and could not allow me to wait inside and out of the freezing cold rain. So that's what I did, ha. The rest was just sitting back and watching the magic happen. Fast forward a few years, a couple competitions, a beautiful baby girl and here we are! Ready to get this show on the road!

The Proposal

January 28, 2017

Nikki was 5 months pregnant and let me tell you, Declan was a rough pregnancy! She was so rough that by about 5 p.m. Nikki was pretty much exhausted, so obviously the romantic proposal by the water at sunset just wasn't an option. Before I tell you my masterful idea you need a little back story to understand why it was so genius. When we first found out we were going to have a baby together, we both couldn't wait to know if it was a boy or a girl. Unfortunately, we had to wait until halfway through to get confirmation of the gender. We both wanted a girl by the way:) Nikki had told me that if you tied a ring to a piece of string and dropped it over her belly you could tell whether we were going to have a boy or girl based on the way the ring spun. We never actually tried it, she blames the 24/7 morning sickness and exhaustion. Fast forward to January, we now know we are having our beautiful baby girl and I can't for the life of me figure out how I want to ask Nikki to marry me. I remember the old wives tail with the ring on a string, and I had to do it. Ha ha! I asked Nikki at about 2:00p.m. to lay down in our living room recliner and that I wanted to see if the gender test was accurate now that we knew we were having a baby girl. I tied the ring to a shoelace I had to pull out of one of my shoes. I dropped it down in front of her! It took her a second to realize it, but when she asked, "what is that?" I dropped to my knee and asked her to marry me. Obviously, it was so smooth she said, "Yes!" Now we are here ready to start the next chapter. I'm so thankful I get to share this life with her and cannot wait to see what life has planned for us next!
