A lot of people think that Tyler and I met at Lipscomb Univ., but boy oh boy is that not further from the truth. Me and a bunch of my girlfriends were in Destin for the week and decided to throw a friend a fake Bachelorette because why not! Well, that night of the party we went to Baytowne Wharf to the Funky Blues Shack (the cutest, smallest and funnest place to karaoke on Monday nights). We were having the BEST time when I noticed this cute guy sitting quietly at the bar with some guys and a girl. I told my friends that I thought he was cute, but I would never have gone up to talk to him until they did. They confirmed the girl next to him wasn't his girlfriend then introduced me to him with these words "she thinks your cute". And that was all it took because I think he thought I was cute too! We started talking and couldn't stop all night. I remember getting back to my friend Sarah's (bridesmaid) house thinking that he was the one I was suppose to marry. It's crazy but I just knew. I fell real hard, real fast. A month later Tyler visited Nashville, met my family and the next month I went to Pensacola and met his. And here we are, almost five years later getting married! Thank you Lord for putting this man in my life!
At the time I was living and working in Santa Rosa Beach. My college friends and roommates invited me to go out to karaoke at the Funky Blue Shack in Bay town. That’s where Kelsey and her friends were continuing their week long “bachelorette” vacation. I’m the last person you’ll see on a karaoke stage... so I when I got there I found a good spot far from the stage to hang out. By then Kelsey and her friends were passionately participating in the karaoke. They sang R Kelly pretty well considering their Christian school persona. Later they found there way to my group of friends and that’s when Kelsey’s friend introduced her to me and we quickly became friends. Weeks later we decided to take a huge risk and started a long distance relationship. Our relationship was rewarding and challenging and it took a couple years of hard faithful work. Choosing to love and pursue Kelsey turned out to be one of the greatest decisions of my life. I’m so thankful, excited, and blessed to call her my fiancé. She is my best friend and I can’t wait to celebrate our marriage with all of our friends and family. Worship, praise and Glory to our Father in heaven forever.
It was the day before Tyler's birthday (12/23) and he told me that we were not getting engaged over the next two days because I had been major expecting it and we've only been talking about it for literally ever. He also told me a few months before then that it would be by the end of the year (he let the ring burn in his gun safe since February 2018 - that's another story though for another day and I knew about it - talk about going crazy). Anyways...on Dec. 22nd he took me shopping and told me to pick out a new outfit and wear it on his birthday that it was a "Christmas present" (I should have known something was up). Well, his birthday rolls around and we went to Rodizio's (which we always go to Outback Steakhouse, birthday tradition). Another sign was Tyler barely ate any meat and no dinner rolls. Tyler could live off of those 2 things. He kept saying he didn't feel good and went to the bathroom twice for like 15 minutes each time. After dinner he took me to Cheekwood to "see the gorgeous lights". We arrived and all I wanted to do was get a cozy drink and walk around to see the lights, instead he said 'we can get a drink at the mansion' and then power walked to the mansion going so fast past the lights. We get to the mansion, walked all the way up to find us on a mission and then walked over a closed off area. I told him we weren't supposed to go back there - his response, "I paid extra for this." Then I look and there is a pathway lit up with the most gorgeous lights, then he takes me to a specific spot at the end of the walkway and started talking and then I knew something was up - you think I would have seen it sooner. I think I just couldn't believe it was happening! We have been talking about this day for 4.5 years and it was finally here. Well he got down on one knee first to get the ring out of his boots then second to propose. After I said yes, all of my family and friends popped out from the bushes! He did so good. A night I'll never forget.
for being part of our story. We love you all!
