How We Met

Circa February 2017

We met during a swing dance at The Mercury Cafe one Sunday evening. Hannah asked Joel to dance, and the rest is history! Well, it did take until March 28, 2018 for Joel to ask Hannah out (thanks to some prompting from a priest and a mutual dance friend). Joel picked up Hannah for their first date with a box of chocolates, and the rest is history (for real this time)!

The Proposal

November 3, 2018

According to Joel: "We did some things. I said some things. We got engaged." According to Hannah: "I had high hopes that Joel was going to propose (I even painted my nails!). I showed up to his house early that morning, and he was most definitely acting completely normal and was not nervous at all. He drove us to the top of Mt. Falcon, and said he was going to find us a 'good rock' to sit on. He found a flat spot nestled between some boulders. It was snowing and foggy, so we couldn't see the mountaintops, but it was still beautiful. Joel had given me some random nicknames while we were dating, such as 'elegant butternut squash,' 'little meadow daisy,' and 'prismatic and syrupy lady friend.' Talk about charming! He read all 150 nicknames, and when he got to the last one, a bouquet of roses appeared from behind a boulder (thanks Rachel!). His brother came around the boulder too, camera ready (thanks Adam!). Joel got down on his knee, and asked me to marry him. I said, 'yep, I sure do!' then proceeded to jump up and down and ask why it was taking so long for me to see my ring. Hugs abounded. Fingers froze. Joel was the most relieved human to ever have existed."
