The couple met through a mutual friend/coworker, Andrew. Brittany and Andrew worked together at Tampa General Hospital and when Andrew got promoted, Brittany and coworkers threw him a party at Anchor Bar. Andrew brought his two best friends, Philip and Spencer, and the four spent the night playing darts and hanging out. Over the next few weeks Philip invited Brittany out for drinks, the movies, and karaoke with his friends. On July 25, 2019, Brittany and Philip went on their first date to see "The Lion King". They've been inseparable ever since.

Struggling to find the right moment in 2020 to propose and after months of carrying "the ring" in his bag, Philip decide to seize the moment and took Brittany to Fort Desoto beach, their go-to date spot. He took her to the top of the fort to watch the sunset and she accidentally grazed the ring box in his pocket. She knew what was to come, as the ring had been accidentally delivered to their apartment months ago; though she never opened the box. Philip laughed and she asked what was so funny. He said, "This was.", opening the box to show her the ring. She looked at it and proceeded to explain she knew he had it the whole time. A few seconds later she finally realized this was "the moment" becoming speechless and eventually managed to say, "Yes!"
