Our story began in the hallways and classrooms of our North Carolina high school. Campaign speeches, Mr. Ledford's biology class, hallway encounters, and quick exchanges on the way to the bus lot have certainly turned into something beautiful! Though I (Tuesda) didn't immediately catch the vision of that "something beautiful," Wil had certainly set his eyes towards our friendship becoming the foundation for a loving future. I (Wil) tried all the angles a shy kid in HS could take but at the same time was aware that dating might be a no go. When I had my accident before sophomore year, she brought my homework to me. We always had a place for each other. Our budding friendship entered a new era when Wil's family relocated to Texas. Nevertheless, we remained friends and pen pals across the years.
Though we were consistently separated by many (many) miles, we are blessed that the passage of time did not diminish our friendship. Wil continued to show himself to be a genuine friend (who wasn't content to be in the friend zone) by finding his way to me across states and continents! His consistency, caring heart, and persistence kept us close in spite of the miles. So you're saying I have a chance... Through this period Tuesda began to change, the calls were longer and more substantive, there was an interest and intrigue there that inspired me to be more assertive. She had a trust in me that I could feel and understand regardless of the miles. She opened the door and gave me an opportunity to grow our feelings and take a chance. Though we each expressed interest in our own ways, our time had not yet come. After strolling through the cherry blossoms of DC and visiting the Jefferson Memorial, it became clear that something more was taking shape between us. Though still separated by many miles, we made a point to commit ourselves to getting to know each other anew. DC, Philly, East Lansing, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Indy, Pittsburgh, Springfield, Chicago, Kansas City, Ft. Worth, Charlotte, Boston, and Smugglers Notch are all cities of importance that shaped where we are. Thank goodness for regional airports and UberEats!
After joining our hearts across the miles, we are ready to join our lives together! We are ready to turn long-distance into a lifetime of love, joy, and growing ever closer.
