Tucker and I both lived on the same floor of Burroughs Hall at UW-Stevens Point. We met at a mandatory floor dinner on the first night in the dorms, and we sat accross from each other. We saw each other here and there - in the gym, at church student suppers, and in passing. Eventually we became pretty good friends! Our first official "date" was actually when I asked Tucker to go to dinner with me at the campus dining hall because all of my other girl friends were busy...he suggested we could go somewhere else to eat, so we ended up going to El Mezcal (which is now one of our favorite places to eat).
Almost three years later, and we are engaged! Tucker bought the ring about a month before he proposed, so kudos to him for being patient and planning the perfect proposal. We had talked about spending Saturday, October 13th together and one of the things we wanted to do was walk through Schmeeckle Reserve (a forest and lake area with a trail around the lake). We decided to go at sunrise to get some cool pictures, and he brought along his tripod to put up a camera to get a video of the sun rising. Little did I know, he actually bought a new tripod stand so he could put his phone up. He came over to me after setting it up and handed me a photo album. Inside, it had various pictures of things we had done over the past few years with a little note beside each one. Then, on the last page, he ended with saying, "Before we can fill the rest of this album, I have to ask you a question..." and got down on one knee and proposed. We got it all on video too, since he put up his tripod before, which is where these awesome background pictures came from!
