The very first time we met is unknown specifically... We first knew each other through school at ETSU while both entering into Greek life our Freshman year. Throughout our college years, we were around each other at various fraternity/sorority events, while also having a few classes together. One class specifically was an argumentation & debate class (for those that know Tucker - you know there was no 'winning' for any of Tucker's classmates, including me). It wasn't until our final year at ETSU that the potential of something more than a friendship came into light. It was the Summer of 2015 when Tucker and I ran into each other at ETSU's gym, which led to an invite to Tucker's birthday get-together that evening. After meeting friends at Tucker's townhouse, we retreated to the ol' watering hole (also known as the notorious Poor Richards). The entire rest of the night Tucker and I sat and talked to each other. I remember thinking 'it's your birthday and you want to sit here and talk to me the whole night'?? After a few weeks of talking back and forth and occasionally seeing each other (during which Tucker would say I was playing "hard to get"), I finally agreed to go on our first real date (Tupelo Honey on 7/14/15). And so they say.............. "The rest is history."
The weekend of April 19th, Tucker and I had planned to go visit his family and spend the day in the Sevierville area (or so I thought). We didn't have exact plans, so when Tucker started to drive toward Sevierville after stopping by his family's home in Newport, TN I just sat along for the ride. I just assumed we would figure out something to do when we got there and didn't feel the need to ask questions. In the background was Tucker's "Dance with Me" playlist - a collection of our favorite *love* songs. Once we got to Sevierville, I noticed he was using the Maps on his phone, which I felt was odd. We turned down a road which led to an airplane hangar that displayed 'Sevier County Choppers'. As we got out of the car, Tucker said "We were going to do a helicopter ride for your birthday, but we may not get to due to the rain. Let's go inside and see." I was excited and really hopeful that this was going to workout. Many who know us know my Dad was a helicopter pilot. After losing him in 2014, my one regret was never getting to fly with him. After going inside, meeting the pilot, and touring the facility, we were told to wait a little bit to see what the weather would do. We left to drive around and about 30 minutes later, the pilot called and said we could go up! We get back to the hangar, take a helicopter ride around some of the Smokies, and return to the base. The weather held out just long enough for a beautiful flight, which was such a blessing in hindsight! After we got out, we went to the front of the helicopter to take a picture, when Tucker turned to me and said a bunch of really sweet things neither one of us can remember! It was a blur! The next thing I knew I had a beautiful ring and a fiancé. (Neither one of us believe I actually said the word 'yes', but it was definitely implied!) The evening ended with a surprise engagement party, perfectly planned by Tucker, that included many of our family members and friends. It was truly the best, most special day!
