It all started with a swipe (thanks Hinge!). Fast forward to July 28th, where Steven and Jasmine were set to have their first date at a little hole-in-the-wall bar that happened to be right between their respective apartments. It was trivia night, and being the nerds they are, they were excited to show off to each other what they knew. During dinner, trivia, and even hours after sitting at that bar top, they got to know each other in a way that was unlike any other first date. They chatted for over 6 hours! It was easy to see how quickly they connected and felt comfortable sharing even the roughest parts of their life stories, with the knowledge that somehow the person sitting across from them would both relate and support. It was no question that there would be a second date after a cute first kiss in the parking lot…that Jasmine humorously missed (and that they still laugh about today).

It was the Friday night of Steven’s big birthday weekend. To celebrate 30, they were going to Pokepalooza on the day of his birthday, which Jasmine was excited to view as a way to bring out their inner child together. But leading up to that day, Steven said it would mean a lot to also recreate their first date that Friday. They had been talking about how they should go do trivia again over and over since they went months prior, so of course Jasmine was in full (clueless) support. They sat at that same bar top, had dinner, and made it to “halftime” of trivia when Steven suggested that they could ditch the loud people/music and jeans for drinks and sweatpants and a movie at home. Jasmine got her food to go, and prior to walking across the lot to Big Red, suggested putting it in the car. Steven was acting all sorts of weird about it, but Jasmine insisted. Once at the car, food secured, Jasmine turned around to a cute kiss from Steven as he dropped to one knee. It was then that she realized he intentionally parked where they had their first kiss, and he was asking her to spend the rest of their life together. It was the easiest yes and the most perfect, intimate proposal she could ever dream of, and so thoughtful for just the two of them to enjoy.
