It’s happening!

Some have said it can’t be done — with hordes of drunk college kids, deafening music, and questionably sticky floors, how could a single person make any sort of connection in a downtown bar? Romance factor: negative. Meaningful conversation: doubtful. Leaving without getting a drink spilled on you: impossible. But on a chilly December night in 2012, amongst the noise and crowd and very sticky floors (seriously, does anyone mop this place?!) Chelsea and Cory made a connection lasting a lifetime. Their mutual friend, Jessie, invited Chelsea out for a night of drinking and dancing with some friends. Chelsea almost said no, but, as fate would have it, she decided to go out for a night of fun and ended up meeting the love of her life. For over 6 years, they’ve been building a life together rooted in laughter and fun, just like that first night they met. Cory’s taught Chelsea how to spot an offside call in soccer, why super cars need so much horsepower, and how to properly appreciate the art of craft beer. Chelsea’s taught Cory about all the joy that comes with a hot cup of coffee, the difference between a port-a-cath and PICC line, and the importance of never missing a candle sale. Together, in their adventures, they’ve discovered the delicacy that is red wine and how to cook without burning the house down (although they make no promises regarding the smoke alarm). They’ve grown in their mutual love for Harry Potter and each other. They’ve traveled the world, tried new foods, learned new languages and new customs — and now they’re getting hitched!

Anyone who knows Cory is probably aware that decision-making is not his strong suit, so, in terms of The Ring, the couple had already chosen a few different styles and designs together. The only question was how and when (and for Chelsea — which?!). Would it be on their solo vacay to Cabo San Lucas or on their European adventure with some of their closest friends? Would it be romantic? Would she know it was coming? In short — yes. Yes to most of those things. Cory was nervous about Chelsea finding out that he’d purchased the ring (all their finances were linked, the box itself was huge) and she had an inkling as they walked down to the beach at sunset in Cabo that something amazing was going to happen, but she didn’t know for sure. Cory only had to say a couple words when Chelsea really knew: this was it! It was happening! And in the same magical way that their relationship started (albeit, with less noise and less people), they entered into the next chapter of their silly, crazy lives — with an engagement on the beach at sunset. We’ve been all around the world, lived in multiple cities, explored some of the coolest parts of our country, but Ohio has always been our home. We are so excited to celebrate with you!
