Question

How can we make the most of our time during the wedding weekend? How can we make the most of our time during the wedding weekend?

Answer

Welcome to the Columbia Gorge! Begin at the Vista House at Crown Point then take the old Columbia River Scenic Highway (Hwy 30) to Multnomah Falls (if the road is not open all the way yet you might have to backtrack to get back on the highway 84 to go to Multnomah Falls). Explore the waterfalls and/or go on a hike along the old historic highway. If you have extra time, visit Herman the Sturgeon at Bonneville Dam. A great side trip! Drive the fruit loop in Hood River. Stop at the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automotive Museum or one of many fruit stands or wineries along the loop. End or begin the trip at Panorama County Park. Near the wedding venue! Take a short side trip to Schreiner Farms for a free look at 18 species of exotic animals on a working cattle ranch. Three minutes to the west of the wedding venue is Maryhill Winery and five minutes to the east of the wedding venue, Maryhill Museum, is a must see replica of Stonehenge that is free to the public. Around The Dalles where Randy was born and lived until he was four years old! We recommend the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center Museum. In the Dalles, do a scavenger hunt and see if you can find the four antique neon signs around the town. Also try to find the 18 hand painted historic murals that depict the history of The Dalles. Just a few years ago, 350 sign painters ( known as Walldogs) from around the world volunteered and did the largest project of its kind. On the way home! Take Lewis and Clark Highway (SR14) and do a 20 minute hike up to the top of Beacon Rock to enjoy a spectacular view. If you don’t have the time and energy, just pull over at Cape Horn lookout as that is a spectacular look at Oregon from the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge.

For all the days along the way
