Corona Wedding 2020

March 21, 2020

Never in my life did i think that i would get married in the middle of my future husband’s living room. Like everyone else in the world, COVID19 has disrupted so many plans. Our wedding went from 200+ people to 40 people in a week. Leading up to the big day there were lots of tears and lots of sweat being put in to make this day happen. It was not what Zachary and i had planned but it was so so perfect because when it came down to the core of what we wanted, the expectations we had for our day, drifted away. We wanted to be married. We wanted to start our lives togehter. It was a small intimate wedding i will cherish for the rest of my years. Zach and i are beyond blessed to be gifted with marriage and we thank God for how gracious he has been to us.

How We Met

The first time we met was through a group of church friends. Both of us had no idea that we went to the same church. Both of us went to Antioch Bible Baptist church and throughout high school never crossed paths. Not until my senior year; his first year of college, did we actually start to notice each other. The "Fam" group, short for family, was when we started to see each other. Almost every weekend our group of church friends (The fam) would all hang out. Once we noticed each other we started to FaceTime each other almost every night to just talk and get to know each other. We were both very nervous because we had no idea what we we're doing, but every time we talked it felt natural. It felt like we had been best friends for a long time. The first time that we told each other we liked each other was in the parking lot of our church. He chased me all across the parking lot because he knew what I was going to say, but I was too scared. I ended up telling him by the way. Throughout the time that we have known each other we have grown spiritually and grown in our relationship with each other. We can't wait to be married and continue to grow in our relationship with the Lord. Thanks for coming along this journey with us!

The proposal

Before Zachary proposed we had been talking a lot about marriage. Marriage was something we knew we both wanted, and knew that if we were dating it was because it could lead to marriage. Leading up to the proposal Valentine's day was just around the corner. He took me out to dinner to this place called FreeStyle Poké. I thought that we were just on an early Valentine's dinner date because he had to work on Valentine's Day, however I was wrong. Across the street from FreeStyle was this place called Betty Rae's ice-cream. We talked and laughed and then he asked me if I wanted to go take a picture in the photo booth that was there. Right when the photo was about to be taken he turns to me pulls out a box and I go "What are you doing?" then I realized what he was doing and started screaming and crying so loud that a little boy outside the photo box goes "mommy, don't go in there somethin' happenin'"
