We met working at Amazon. This was the middle of Covid and we were all wearing masks. Jackie had a stupid blue neck gator she was wearing as a mask that day that didn't fit very well. It kept slipping off. Johnny saw me across the warehouse right after my mask had slipped off again as he started his shift. He thought I was cute and approached me. I was reading my Kindle which I had smuggled into work and was reading when Johnny came up to me. I thought he was a manager about to yell at me for reading but instead he started up a conversation. Anyone who knows me, knows I love to read and can get annoyed if I get interrupted but I thought he was cute and wanted to be nice so I put my book away. In order to keep from getting in trouble at work, he would grab a pallet and move it to its location every few minutes. Well it wasn't long before I was walking with him so the conversation could continue. As my shift ended Johnny asked for my FB Messenger, which at the time was the right question to ask as my phone was acting weird and texts didn't always work so I preferred FB Messenger. I still like it better even though I have since got my phone to work correctly. We texted well into the night and before we had said good night Johnny had asked me on a date.

For our first date, we did the classic dinner and a movie. We saw the movie Tenet at Westgate and then had dinner at Johnny Rockets. Both were so good, or at least the company was so good, we were not ready to part ways. We wandered around Westgate talking until I got cold then we went and sat on the couches near a fire. As the night wound down we still did not want the night to end. So Johnny came up with the brilliant idea to run home and grab his laptop so we could watch another movie. This time we watched a favorite of his, Ready Player One. After that movie ended, Westgate was starting to close and we were one of the last ones there so Johnny walked me to my car and we finally said good night....though we started texting again as soon as I got home.

For Christmas I had asked for a galaxy watch, I had a new Samsung Galaxy phone and really wanted a watch to go with it. We were celebrating at Johnny's Mom's house with his whole family and their tradition is to open presents on Christmas Eve. We arrived at his Mom's house on the 23rd and after saying hello to everyone Johnny asked me to go upstairs and not peak because he had hidden my present at his Mom's and need to wrap it. I went upstairs and played with his nieces Katherine and Kimberly. I only peaked once when he said he was done and watched as he set my present front and center at the top of the pile under the Christmas Tree. I asked for a hint and he told me "it is something to help you keep time." Now I was convinced that I was getting my Galaxy Watch. Fast forward and its time to open presents and Katherine had recently learned to read and wanted to help pass out presents. I was sitting near her with Johnny next to me. Katherine was eager as all young kids to get started even though all the adults were still busy talking and laughing. She grabbed that top first present and look at it and said "Your name is Jackie right?" (she lived out of town so we had only met a couple times at this point) as she handed me Johnny's present to me. I knew what it was (or so I thought) and was excited so I saw no harm not waiting and opening it immediately. At this point the only person who knew what he was doing for Christmas was my best friend Heather and she wasn't there. I later found out Johnny and Heather had a proposal plan for Christmas Day and she was going to record the whole thing, but I wouldn't trade what happened for the world. I open the present and find a old Cinderella ornament box and figure Johnny is just being cute and funny with the watch. I open the box...still no one is paying attention, least of all Johnny... and find a small black velvet box. At this point I am very confused. We had talked a few month earlier and he had said he wasn't ready yet but would get there, little did I know the ring was already hidden in the house at this point but he did not want to ruin the surprise. I open the little black box and find the biggest diamond ring I had ever seen up close. I close it as fast as possible and turn to Johnny and say "Johnny, is this what I think it is?" He spins as fast as he can and says "you weren't supposed to see that yet!" Then gets down on his knee as the room goes silent and asks me to marry him with so much love in his eyes. I of course say yes and throw my arms around him for a kiss as his sister Liz screams in joy. To top it off, I go to the back patio to call people and tell them my amazing news and see several humming birds while on the phone. I had never before and have not since seen hummingbirds on that patio. This was my Mom's way of saying she was there and was happy for me.
