It was fate

September 10, 2016 is when it all began

In 2016 Troy and I were both on a dating site and started talking. “Yes we met online”. At the time Troy was in Texas training for his job. He was living in North Dakota. He just happened to be moving to Ankeny in 4 months. The first 4 months consisted of lots of texting, phone calls and then face times for sometimes 2-3 hours at a time. Some nights we didn't want to say Good bye. On September 7, 2016 Troy finally moved to Ankeny. September 10, 2016 we had our very first date. We met in Newton at Okoboji he brought me a sunflower. That day just happened to be the Iowa/Iowa State football game. Which those of you who know me is a very big deal. This was the easiest date to pick out an outfit for. I had my Hawkeye shirt on and made sure we sat at a table where I could see the game. We ate supper had a couple drinks and talked like we had known each other for years. After we ate I felt comfortable enough to invite him back to my house to finish watching the game. I was surprised that he still wanted to speak to me after being around me while watching football. Turns out he is also a BIG football fan. At the time he didn't have a college team he cheered for . (I change that quickly GO HAWKS). From that point on we were together. In October he met Myself, Lizzy and some mutual friends at Adventureland. This was the first time that Lizzy and Troy met. This is the moment I fell in love with him. (I didn't tell him then, I made him say it first) They hit it off, and were instantly connected. The next year consisted of me staying with him and him staying with me. Lots of back and forth and continued good night phone calls. Exactly 1 year to the weekend of our first date he moved to Newton and into our home. We made a home in Newton until the summer of 2018 when we bought our first home together in Ankeny. In July we moved into that home. Our life has been crazy and amazing but I wouldn't change it for the world.

The Proposal

It was a normal caotic night

On Wednesdays I work 12 hour shifts and when I come home I instantly change out of my work clothes and into comfy clothes. That night Troy had gotten Lizzy supper before I came home which I was thankful for. Not long after I get home Lizzy has to get things picked up and get ready for bed. This night she had markers and colors with books all over the couch so I asked her to pick them up and take them upstairs. As she is going up stairs she drops them all over. That is when the chaos started. She had asked Troy to help which he had said "you can get them" she then was crying. I just wanted to change my clothes. I am standing in our bedroom. Troy comes in and says "you know I love you right" I instantly was like great, where do you have to go now (this usually means he is going somewhere for work). He said "you know I love you right" In the back ground Lizzy continues to complain about picking up her stuff. I said "yes" He then pulls out the ring box gets down on one knee and says "will you marry me" I was in shock is this real oh my god "Yes" I will marry you. That's when I realized Lizzy had come in was jumping up and down on our bed saying "we're getting married" Of course I cried. This is a typical day for us chaotic and loud and absolutely the perfect setting for him to ask me to marry him.
