We met through mutual friends second semester Sophomore Year of college. We instantly became friends due to our competitive natures and our love to let loose and have fun. We became each other's go-to dates for our sports team's formals and, FINALLY, during Senior Year at Troy's soccer formal, there was a spark. We started dating soon after and the rest is history!
Troy was invited on my family vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday to the Grand Cayman Islands in the Caribbean. On Thanksgiving morning, we all went on a beach turkey trot to start off the holiday. Once we returned back to the hotel, we lounged in our beach chairs and in our floats. Troy asked to go on a walk at sunset before our nice Thanksgiving dinner just the two of us and I started to have inkling what might be happening. So to mess with him a little, I agreed to the walk but asked if we should get ready for dinner first or just go from the beach. He wanted to get ready for dinner first so that we didn't have to rush before dinner. Then it started to get cloudy and I mentioned that if it rains, we shouldn't go on a walk before dinner and he started to sweat and was determined to make this walk happen. So, we finally got to go on our walk at sunset (with no rain) and he wanted to bring a synch-bag with him on the walk to carry his "water and ibuprofen" because of his "headache". We walked down the beach with a beautiful sunset and we came upon a private area on the beach where there were no people or hotels. We stopped to look at the sailboats across the sunset and Troy said he needed his ibuprofen so he went digging through his synch-bag. He then pulled out the ring box and was on a knee. He grabbed my hand and I instantly became giddy and nervous all at the same time. We both slightly blacked out during the moment and can't remember everything he said, but the moment was perfect. Of course, I said yes, and the group playing water polo down the beach all started cheering and blowing their whistles. We walked back hand in hand already talking about our future and when we returned to our hotel, my family was waiting there with celebration drinks. Now we are anxiously awaiting the day to say yes to a life together, forever!
