Joe and I grew up a mere 12 miles from each other. Him in Vernon NJ and I in Warwick NY. We both frequented some of the same places, who didn't love Mountain Creek? Both knew some of the same people, recently we figured out that I actually watched Joe graduate high school.....but we did not meet until 2017 in Raleigh NC of all places. By the wonders of the internet we were brought together. A mutual love for the NY Giants and the fact he grew up in Vernon opened the door for our first date. The next year and a half was a dream. We quickly fell in love and became each others best friends. That old saying "when you know you know" could not have been more on point. I knew in my soul I had found my person. We are both very excited to start this journey and cannot wait to celebrate our love with our family and friends <3
For those of you interested in our engagement story I am more than happy to brag about the fairy tale day. To say Joe knocked it out of the park is an understatement. The fact that no one spilled the beans was also a miracle. Joe, being the amazing gentleman that he is, got my family together and drove out to their house to get their permission to ask me to be his wife. Then the planning and plotting began. This is the only time lying to me is okay! He planned a "secret date". While I had my suspicions, it was not out of the ordinary for him to plan something sweet. He took me to the place where we first said I love you, the beautiful Duke Gardens. Even brought me to the same bench it happen on. He then got down on one knee and changed my life forever and presented me with the most beautiful ring. To make it even more special it was his grandmothers. To say I was overcome with emotion is an understatement, I blubbered like a baby and made sure he was aware there were no "take backs". I was so excited to tell EVERYONE but he asked me to walk down to the pond to take pictures...I asked a lovely couple to please take our first engagement picture...Joe awkwardly asked me to turn around, which I did not understand at first. Then I saw both of our families standing and cheering on the other side of the pond. The other guests of the gardens clapped as well. It was such a magical moment AND we got pictures of it. I will be forever grateful for the memories he made possible that day, and all the hard work both of our families put in to make it so very special.
