He asked to borrow a pencil. She said yes. And somehow, that tiny moment turned into over a decade of friendship, chaos, and eventually… this whole getting-married thing. We met freshman year of high school: awkward, clueless, emo and completely unaware that we’d just stumbled into something life changing. We became best friends almost instantly and stuck together through every twist and turn life threw at us. We both joined the military, stayed somewhat close, and saw each other through every season of life, the good, the bad, the dramatic plot twists, the stupid decisions and everything in between. After years of being “best friends”, we finally got our act together and started dating in December 2022. Turns out, all we really needed was that one pencil and a whole lot of time.
