Long story short: Prateek knew who Tristan was. Tristan knew who Prateek was. They didn't actually know each other until Ron Burnett, Prateek's attorney, called him to let him know that Ron just hired a new associate -- a girl close to Prateek's age that just happened to be the runner he saw at the office a couple summers back. Soon, Prateek was making frequent trips to sit in Ron's office, right next door to Tristan's. After months of the occasional "hello" and persistent encouragement from Ron (who never failed to let Tristan know how great of a guy Prateek is and how his family are the nicest people she'd ever meet), the two began spending time together outside of the office. They hit it off, quickly becoming the best of friends, and before they knew it, they were dating.

Over Memorial Day weekend, Prateek and Tristan took what was supposed to be a long weekend trip to Hawaii. Prior to the trip, Prateek bought a new suit, so Tristan bought a new dress... or four... thinking that he was bound to propose at a nice romantic dinner. Once they arrived in Hawaii, Prateek scheduled a helicopter tour of the island of Oahu for the next day and dinner reservations at a nice restaurant afterward. The two spent all day in the pool soaking up the sun and making friends with some folks from Alabama. When they got out of the pool to dry off and go get ready, Prateek asked, "What are you wearing for the helicopter? You're not wearing Nike shorts, are you?" Odd thing to ask, but okay. She should've known then, but Tristan was oblivious and fully convinced that the proposal would be later that evening. When the couple arrived for the tour, a woman was meeting with the pilot. She introduced herself as the company's social media manager and asked if it was okay that she joined them on their tour to get some Instagram content. Once again, Tristan should have figured it out then, but alas, she did not. Once they were airborne, the pilot took the couple over the ocean, around the perimeter of the island, and through Jurassic Valley. The pilot announced that the weather was beautiful, so he wanted to show them a place that not many people get to see. Excited for an even more unique experience, Tristan had her phone out ready to capture every moment. Then Prateek tapped her shoulder and said, "Put your phone down." What? "Put your phone down!" Finally, over the headset, the pilot directed everyone's attention "to the left" where Tristan beheld a 400-foot banner on the ground that read "MARRY ME?" Jaw on the floor, she turned the look at Prateek who was holding the most beautiful ring, smiling ear to ear. He said the magic words, and she said yes. And so began their happily ever after. The end!
