The year was two thousand thirteen. Emma was starting as a freshman at St. Charles High School and Tristan was beginning his junior year in the same school. Having last names alphabetically close to one another, they first saw each other at various points at the beginning of the first few days of school. Some time went by, the first week of school is can be social nightmare for some people. But for Emma, one instance stood out. "French, right?" After a handful of classes, Tristan finally spoke to the cute red haired girl with glasses from his French class! It's the small victories that count, friends. But it wasn't all hon hon, oui oui, baguettes from there. The first semester went by without much more than a few texts here and there, nothing serious. Nothing really progressing towards anything more than a cool-cool friendship. Their semester long French Class had come to an end, and they found themselves on different schedules. It wasn't until the turn of the year, after starting the 2nd semester without Emma in his French class that he began to get heart eyes for Emma. A few conversations here and there lead to talking daily. Eventually, Emma thought it was time to hang out officially! A friend of Emma's was having a birthday party, and this would be the perfect opportunity for a low pressure meetup outside of school. Emma dressed in her "I'm interested in you clothes" while Tristan took a bath in his favorite cologne. The stage was set. Between swinging in the neighbor's tire swing and watching Frozen together, they both left that night feeling exciting about seeing where things would go!
