What is the Wedding dress code?

Answer

Yes, Black-Tie Optional! Tuxedos and floor-length gowns are encouraged, but elegant dark suits and formal cocktail dresses (ankle length or midi length dresses) are also very welcome! We do not expect male guests to rent/buy a tuxedo to enjoy our wedding.

When is the RSVP deadline and how do I RSVP?

Answer

All RSVPs are done online through this website on the RSVP tab. There are no cards to mail in. Please RSVP by September 1st 2026.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Come early! We encourage guests to enjoy the beautiful historic hotel; there is plenty to see and do prior to the ceremony. Check out The Raleigh Room for an elegant lounge and bar. Visit The Hunt Room for an intimate, speakeasy-style tavern. Explore the property and visit the hotel's museum that chronicles the storied past of the 1920s property. Exhibits feature historical artifacts, vintage photographs, and memorabilia detailing the hotel's rich history. Seating begins at 4:30pm for our 5:00pm ceremony in the Sunken Garden. Please note there will be no entry once the ceremony begins. Valet parking is required at the Historic Cavalier Hotel. Please allow plenty of time to valet when planning your arrival for the ceremony. We suggest you arrive no later than 4:00pm. Please see the additional parking FAQ for more details regarding other options.

Where can I park?

Answer

Valet parking at the The Historic Cavalier Hotel is required. Valet parking costs $7.00, payment is by cash or online at pickup. Self Parking is the more expensive option. For guests that are interested in self parking there is a parking garage located directly across the street at the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel (4201 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451). Currently the cost is roughly $3.00 - $5.00 per hour. Please allow additional arrival time to account for off-site parking.

Are children welcome?

Answer

NO; while we love your little ones, our celebration will be adults-only.

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We unfortunately cannot accommodate additional guests. We can only accommodate the individuals listed on your invitation. Your invitation will be made out to "{your name} & guest or +1" if a plus one has been given to you. If a plus one is not listed on your invitation or not listed in the RSVP section on this website, you are not able to bring an additional guest. If there is any confusion or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

Is there an event on Sunday, October 11th?

Answer

YES! We are hosting a complimentary farewell brunch for all wedding guests on Sunday, October 11th from 9:00am - 11:00am at The Historic Cavalier Hotel in the Raleigh Loggia & Great Patio. This is a casual come and go event with service ending at 11:00am. If you plan to attend, RSVP is required by September 1st on our RSVP tab.

Is the wedding inside or outside?

Answer

The ceremony will take place outside, weather permitting, in the Sunken Garden. Cocktail hour will be on The Great Lawn & Great Lawn Loggia which is a combined outdoor and indoor space. Dinner & dancing will be inside in The Crystal Ballroom.

Will there be food and drinks provided?

Answer

YES! Cocktail hour includes served hors d'oeuvres and open bar. Our reception includes a full dinner, open bar, cake, and late night snacks!

How do I list a food allergy or special diet requirement?

Answer

Our RSVP will allow all guests to include any food allergies or special diet requirements. The Cavalier team requires this information to be included ahead of time in order to make these accommodations. Please RSVP by September 1st on our RSVP tab.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible or accessible to those with mobility issues?

Answer

YES! The Cavalier is fully wheelchair accessible. For all guests who are not in a wheelchair but prefer or need to avoid steps leading down to and up from The Sunken Garden, golf cart transportation, by the Cavalier team, will be provided to and from the ceremony. The team at the Cavalier will require notice of those who need this assistance ahead of time. Please ensure you include this when you RSVP.

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

The wedding party and immediate family members will be taking pictures after the ceremony. Guests will be directed to the The Great Lawn & Loggia to enjoy cocktail hour.

Is there anything to do immediately after the reception ends at 10:30pm?

Answer

YES! If you are not ready to go home and want to keep the party going, feel free to head to The Hunt Room located on the lower level of The Cavalier. The Hunt Room bar is open until 1:00am. However, this is not a planned wedding event, so bring your wallet!
