We actually were in the same third grade class at Mt. Comfort Elementary School. Although we were never in the same friend group throughout our elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school days, we did know of each other. Audrey knew Tristan played football and Tristan said Audrey was "in all the smart classes." We both went in different directions after high school. Audrey returned home from six years of college at Ohio Northern University and three months later, we connected via social media. Approximately three weeks later, we went on our first date to HopCat in Broad Ripple, and the rest is history.
A pharmacy work conference for Audrey brought us to San Francisco, California. We arrived on Friday morning, checked into our hotel, and grabbed an early lunch before starting our sight-seeing adventures. We decided our first stop would be to see the Golden Gate Bridge from Baker Beach. While enjoying a walk along the beach, we were struggling to find someone that was available to take our picture so we decided to move on to our next stop. Tristan suggested we take a different path back to our rental car to get an even better view of the Golden Gate Bridge. As fate would have it, we ran into a couple who was more than happy to take a photo of us with the bridge in the background. The gentleman used Audrey's phone and began snapping all sorts of photos and different poses of us. His wife chuckled and then informed us that her husband is a professional photographer and taking pictures is his passion. Tristan then said, "Well if you're a photographer, take one more photo." At that point Audrey turned around to see what photo Tristan could possibly want. Much to her surprise Tristan was down on one knee, holding an engagement ring, and ready to propose. The gentleman taking the photos quickly reacted by taking a video with Audrey's phone rather than just pictures. Because of his brilliant thinking, we were able to share that moment with our family and friends back home. That couple we met in California that day will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Oddly enough, they were celebrating their 22nd wedding anniversary. We talked, laughed, and shared tears of joy with them...an unforgettable moment for all of us.
